Art Order Pin-up Challenge

Once again I’ve neglected the ol’ blog! I actually do have a lot of things I want to post in the coming days. Life drawings, sketches, and the work I’ve been doing for Shadow Physics. Time just keeps escaping me. I’m happy to post this new painting. It’s the first full one I’ve done in a while, and I feel it’s a milestone for me. It’s another Art Order challenge, since that usually gets me motivated to drop what I’m doing and do something different. Plus, it’s a pin-up! I love pin-ups!

This is based off a photo I was given. It’s my second portrait, and there were quite a few challenges. First off it’s a little larger than life, and it was tricky trying to tackle all the subtle changes in color when dealing with such a monochromatic reference, but it was a lot of fun! I’m happy with it. I included a detail shot and a progress image as well.

Late New Year, New sketches

It has been a long time since I last posted anything, with vacations, getting back to work and used to the swing of things. I’ve also started working at a startup with my friends Steve Swink and Scott Anderson on Shadow Physics. I can’t wait to show some of what we’ve been cooking!

Here are some sketches I’ve done recently. I hope to develop some of them into paintings or some other form, like a 3D print.

I started and finished my first oil portrait on Saturday, it was exciting to get it finished.

I also colored a sketch in Photoshop during my lunch today for Character of the Week on conceptart.org.

Here’s a portrait from life drawing class today, using a lot more white chalk this time to help define the form. This week I’ll start working part time on Shadow Physics, creating a 3D proof of concept for the look of the game! Exciting!
